Which kit fits your work

Soft subgrades as well as base course
Choose a dual mass kit. The 4.6 kg setting keeps each blow short enough to read in soft ground, so one instrument covers CBR 0.5 to 100.

Firm soils and base layers only
The 8 kg Quick Connect kit covers CBR 10 to 100 and comes ready to run, with the scale, guides, tips, and case.

Every joint threaded tight
The Dual Mass Threaded kit joins the drive rod with a thread instead of a quick connect pin. ASTM D6951 calls for all joints to be securely tightened.

A lot of tests, or deeper than 36"
The Dual Mass Deluxe kit ships with 100 disposable tips and three 24" extension rods.

You already own a scale and case
The Economy 8 kg kit and the 4.6 kg Foundation set are the drive rod assembly and a hardened reusable tip, without the scale or disposable tips.

What a DCP costs to run
Cone tips are the part you keep buying. Ours, at today's prices:
Disposable cone tips: 25 for $59.65 ($2.39 a tip), 100 for $214.60 ($2.15 a tip), 250 for $536.50 ($2.15 a tip).
Hardened reusable cone tips: 1 for $26.75, 5 for $113.75 ($22.75 a tip).
Every part in our kits is sold separately, from the drive rod to the Pelican case, so a worn or lost piece never means a new kit.

What to check when comparing any DCP
-
Who makes it. We machine every kit in our own shop in Northville, Michigan, and have since 1983.
-
ASTM D6951. Every kit we sell is built to it and to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers standards, under an ISO 9001 certified quality system.
-
How the rod joins. Quick connect is fast to assemble. Threaded holds tighter. We make both.
-
One-person operation. Our upper and lower guides hold the vertical scale in place, so one person can run the test.
-
What is in the case, and what replacement tips cost once the first pack runs out.
-
Who already uses it. Our DCPs are in service with the Michigan Department of Transportation, the U.S. Air Force, the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Carlton County, Minnesota, NAVFAC, and Canada's Department of National Defence.
